Six-banded angelfish

Pomacanthus sexstriatus

This big beautiful fish eats sponges sea squirts algae and other various creatures and you will often see them feeding underneath coral heads.

They are large and colourful and like butterflyfish they pair up to defend a territory (if you notice more than two then you may see a bit of a fight and you may even hear them grunt).

Their colour is a display to other angelfish and the juveniles have a very different colouration so that they are not chased away by the adults.
